Big Firm Expertise, Boutique Service
Nick Stevens
Nick grew up in Billerica, MA as the youngest of 3 siblings in a household built by hard working, blue-collar parents. Having grown up around sports, there is no game Nick does not love. He eventually took a serious liking to golf and now plays in local and state tournaments. Nick is married to his wife Rachel, living in Boston with their dog Sam. He also enjoys spending time with his 4 nieces and nephews on the weekends.
Nick has had an incredible amount of experience packed into his short 15 year career. He worked at a small financial advising firm out of college in 2006, and then at Fidelity Investments for 12 years. This tremendous amount of experience with different clients has given Nick a good sense of what works and what doesn’t. Nick also saw the traditional "AUM" fee model that most investment advisors use and motivated him to launch his revolutionary "flat-fee" model. Another benefit of working at a large firm was the amount of client “at bats” he was lucky to get. With the sheer volume of clients, Nick met with 15 plus clients per week, resulting in over 3,000 appointments in just his last 5 years there. Experiencing how different individuals make financial decisions, Nick understands how easy it can be to veer off of a plan and react to short term market events. This understanding has had a huge impact on how he advises clients. He founded Evergreen Retirement Planning with the hopes of bringing that knowledge to clients and facilitating better investor behavior.
As his professional side hustle, Nick is also a landlord with several investment properties in the Boston area. This passive income provided Nick the freedom to launch his own firm and has been a ballast to grow Evergreen organically. Nick has the confidence to know he will be there for clients for the long-haul. This also provides great perspective for clients that have investments outside of the stock market and welcomes planning conversations that are outside of the standard “stock and bonds” world.
